$200 PLAYBOOKS TO BE AVAILABLE AFTER CHRISTMAS

The BlackBerry PlayBook was available for as little as $200 in November, but those folks who didn’t manage to buy the tablet during that promotional window don’t have to lose to heart. The tablet will be on sale again after Christmas.

The US wireless carrier Sprint will be selling the tablet for $200 from December 26th and January 7th as part of its after-Christmas sale promotion.

Amazon is not known for providing precise sales figures of its Kindle line of tablets and ebook readers. However, according to a major announcement the retailer made yesterday, the Kindle products are fast flying off the shelves.

APPLE COULD BE BUILDING A SMALLER IPAD

Apple could be working on a smaller iPad. The company’s flagship iPad has a 9.7 inch display. Not so long ago, Apple CEO Steve Jobs had rubbished rumors that his company would build a smaller iPad. Jobs had said that existing iPad apps wouldn’t run well on tablets with smaller displays.

850,000 BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOKS SOLD THIS YEAR

Research in Motion shipped 850,000 BlackBerry Playbooks this year 150,000 of which were sold during the quarter ending on November 26th. That is not a huge figure and clearly shows a remarkable dip in sales.

TOSHIBA INTRODUCES 10 INCH WINDOWS TABLET IN JAPAN

Toshiba has already launched a few Android tablets, but the company’s latest runs Windows 7 Professional operating system. It is aimed at business customers and will be available in Japan sometime soon.

The Archos 80 and Archos 101 G9 tablets will hit the market in time for Christmas. The Archos 80 has an 8 inch display while the Archos 101 G9 has a 10 inch display. Both models have 1.5GHz dual core processors. Archos already offers tablets with 8 inch and 10 inch displays. But these models have either 1 GHz or 1.2GHz processors.
