Gotta be fuel mixture ignition compression or plain old mechanical stoppage. If you shine a flashlight into the fuel fill hole and gently slosh the tank around youll see the water as a bubble at the bottom. If it smells like laquer the fuel is bad and needs to be replaced.

These things need to be exercised regularly. If after this the generator doesnt start still remove the whole bowl then clean it out before drying it. Now the car will not start without starting fluid.

If it runs for just a couple seconds and dies that means the gas in your carb was probably bad.
